The Black Drongo (Dicrurus
macrocercus) is about 28 cm long bird informally known as King Crow. It is
glossy black overall with dark brown iris. It has a long deeply forked tail
with a small white spot at the end. It is widely found in the open country in
the Indian Subcontinent. Black Drongos make a cup-shaped nest in the fork of an
outer tree-branch and the female lays 3-4 pale cream eggs. They zealously guard
their nesting territory and become very aggressive if predator birds try to
enter their territory. They are so fearless that they attack even much larger
birds to drive them away.
